William “Bill” John Jr.

Bill John, Board member for STAHS, 2023 – present

William “Bill” John Jr. joined the STAHS Board of Directors in 2023. Bill is the son of Bill Jr. and Jane (Service) John. It is Bill’s mom service on Tribal Council that inspired him to work for his Tribe and serve his community.

Bill’s journey to work with his Tribe started when he took a position as a Protege’ at Chinook Winds Casino Resort. Bill was inspired by Chinook Winds ability to work with the local community and strived to provide much-needed funding for the Tribe. Bill worked in all 18 departments and invested another 12 weeks to learn more about Table Games and Marketing. After more than a year of working in various departments, Bill chose Marketing (Public Relations) to start his career working for his Tribe. Bill has also worked in the Purchasing Department at Chinook Winds Casino Resort for the past 5 years.

Bill has served as a Lincoln City Ambassador, where he was named Ambassador of the Year. For three year, he worked on the Tour to Die For, an award winning tourism event sponsored and endorsed by Explore Lincoln City. Additionally, Bill served as a member of the Bay Area Merchants Association which hosted the Taft Haunted Walking Tour; until 2022, when he chose to devote his time to STAHS.

For fun, Bill’s enjoys volleyball. When he lived in California he was a member of many clubs. When he lived in Salem, Oregon he managed an adult volleyball league for 15 years, he coached girls club volleyball for 3 years, and a high school volleyball referee for 4 years. Volleyball is one of his passions and has always been a family sport.
